NeSMITH LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN COMING TO MAGNOLIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY IN 2017

Columbus, MS – Magnolia Motor Speedway and NeSmith Racing officials are excited to announce the addition of the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman Division to the Weekly Racing Line-up of divisions competing at the 3/8th’s mile gumbo surfaced premier facility located just outside of town in Columbus, MS. The NeSmith Late Model Sportsman will join the NeSmith Late Models and NeSmith Street Stocks as other sanctioned divisions racing on a routine basis.

Owners/Promoters “Dr. Dirt” Johnny Stokes and Charles Roberts are long-time staples in the NeSmith Racing family albeit in differing roles throughout the life of the series. Stokes is a decorated veteran behind the wheel of a Late Model and most recently a NeSmith Street Stock car but has made himself just as well-known for his prowess in preparing racing surfaces and taking over the reins to promote tracks in his hometown of Columbus. Roberts was the long-time owner/operator of Hoosier Racing Tire South before retiring and purchasing “The Mag” along with Stokes.

“Johnny Stokes and Charles Roberts have always been great supporters of the NeSmith Racing family of series, and continue to see the vision we have for the future of our sport by helping foster new ideas to keep the sport alive and well,” stated NeSmith Racing CEO Mike Vaughn.

Along with the Weekly Racing Divisions sanctioned at Magnolia Motor Speedway, they will also host several special events throughout the season for the Touring Divisions that run under the NeSmith  Racing banner, which will be highlighted once again by the season ending 100-lap “Possum Town Grand Prix” paying $10,000 to win over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
