DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 10 ROUND UP

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – For the first time in the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series 27-week season, Mother Nature did not interfere with a single race. All 17 races on the Week 10 schedule of events were completed. There were some drivers with big wins that have made them drivers to watch in the coming weeks as the battles for the four National Championships heat up.

The complete results for races in all four Divisions are listed below. The point standings are updated at www.durrencelayneracing.com through Week 10 for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS had a big Week 10 in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division with two big wins at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Hughes drove the B.J.’s Tire and Service Center Special to a Week 3 Make-Up Race win on Friday night, and a $1,000-to-win victory on Saturday night.

The two wins moved Hughes into the Top 20 of the Late Model National standings with 248 points. While that settled him into the 18th spot in the chase for the $10,000 top price at the end of the season, Hughes will be one to watch in the coming weeks. He has the highest Weekly Point Average among the Top 20 drivers in the Late Model National standings at 49.60 out of a possible 50.

Hughes now has four wins and six top five finishes in seven races over five weeks of Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model competition. To put a little icing on his Week 10 racing cake, Hughes also won the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division Thursday night race at The Mag.

Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL won the Late Model feature race Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Sparks Energy Rocket. It was Mitchell’s third win of the season with nine top five finishes in nine starts. Mitchell is fourth in the National Late Model standings with 339 points, and has the second highest WPA at 48.43.

Bo Slay of Milton, FL drove the Slay’s Mobile Home Service Special to his second Late Model win of the season Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL Slay holds the 19th spot in the National Late Model standings with 241 points after four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five weeks of racing. Slay has the third highest Late Model WPA at 48.20.

Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL recaptured the National point lead in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division with his second win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway. Hamilton has 432 points after eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine weeks of racing. Hamilton has third highest Street Stock WPA at 48.

Eddie Rhinehart of Lawrenceburg, TN has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the Street Stock National point standings at 48.83. Rhinehart finished third on Friday night at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN, and is 15th in the National standings with 293 points. Rhinehart has one win and six top five finishes in six weeks of racing.

Jason Baker of Addison, AL was the Street Stock winner on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL. Baker has the second highest Street Stock WPA at 48.29. Baker has six wins and ten top five finishes in seven weeks of racing. Baker is eighth in the National standings with 338 points.

Tyler Burgess of Olive Branch, MS had a big weekend with two Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division wins at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Burgess Outdoor Power Rocket. Burgess won the Week 3 Make Up Race on Friday night, and the Week 10 race on Saturday night. Burgess does not yet have enough points to get to the Top 20 in the standings, but keep his name in your memory bank in the coming weeks.

To find the driver with the highest Late Model Sportsman Division WPA, one has to go down to the seventh spot where you will find Ryan King of Anniston, AL. King is tied with Jake Graves of Muscle Shoals, AL and each driver has 297 points. King has a WPA of 49.50 after four wins and eight top five finishes in nine races over six weeks.

King finished second on Saturday night in the $1,000-towin Late Model Sportsman race at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL to the driver with the second-highest WPA, Cole Brown of Cullman, AL. Brown has a WPA at 49.40 and is 14th in the National standings with 247 points. Brown has five wins and eight top five finishes in nine races over five weeks.

Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third on the Late Model Sportsman Division WPA list at 48 among the Top 20 drivers in the National point standings. Ray finished second on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and is ninth in the National standings with 288 points. Ray has two wins and six top five finishes in nine races over six weeks of racing.

Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL picked up a 40-point Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and remains the National point leader. Riddle has three wins with ten top five finishes in ten races over eight weeks. Riddle has the second-highest WPA among the Top 20 Modified Sportsman drivers at 47.75.

Bradley Qualls of Pleasantville, TN has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the Modified Sportsman National point standings at 48. Qualls did not race in Week 10 competition. Brent Smith of Rutherford, TN has the third highest Modified Sportsman WPA at 46.80, and is 15th in the National standings with 234 points.
