DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN DIVISION WEEK 27 PREVIEW

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – With his win at Magnolia Motor Speedway during Week 26, Russellville, AL racer Bryson Mitchell has clinched the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Championship! Mitchell’s 50 point win was enough to secure not only the championship, but also net him enough points to score a PERFECT 700 for the season.

DCole Brown used his runs in the Week 26 Make-Up Feature at his home track of ECM Speedway to move into the second position, and will have to hit the road to defend his standings as that was the season ending event for ECM.

Week 27 action will take place at just 3 Sanctioned Tracks on Saturday night: Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Southern Raceway in Milton, FL leaving drivers just a few choices to pick as the season draws to a close. While Mitchell has clinched the 2019 National Championship, there is still room for some shakeup among the top 10 should drivers venture out and take advantage of the few events dotting the schedule. Those who do could be the select few that get invited to the Annual Awards Banquet which will be detailed in the coming weeks.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.
A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.
The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
